At the heart of Cambie Village’s Indian dining scene, Monsoon Curry Indian Restaurant and Bar stands out for its bold flavours, warm hospitality, and carefully crafted dishes. At the center of it all is Chef Anand, whose culinary journey started not in a professional kitchen, but in his family home as he watched his mother cook one of his favourite dishes, paneer masala!
“The recipe was simple, but I learned from her how basic ingredients can be transformed into flavourful dishes.”
That early exposure to cooking sparked a lifelong passion. Anand recalls the spicy and aromatic paneer masala as a defining dish of his childhood. His grandmother and mother were his first culinary role models, passing down not only recipes but a love for the kitchen.
As Anand’s passion grew, so did his ambition. He pursued a career in hospitality, training under master chefs in India’s hotel industry, where he learned the value of discipline, technique, and the art of spice blending. These experiences helped shape his unique culinary voice, and one that bridges authentic Indian tradition with modern innovation.
Today, that signature style is on full display at Monsoon Curry, where dishes are as visually stunning as they are deeply flavourful.
His goal is simple but profound: to create an experience where guests feel like they’ve taken a journey to India with every bite. Whether you’re enjoying a fragrant biryani, creamy butter chicken, or a reimagined classic with a modern twist, each bite tells a story.
