Stories: Our Village, Our Memories

Updated: Apr 8

April 2026 was a special month to celebrate twenty years of Cambie Village! Twenty years of memories, stories, our favourite restaurants, and so much more. Check out a few stories below from locals who shared their special moments from over the years.

Iris

If you have attended any of our events, there is a good chance you have met Iris. A founding member of the Cambie Village Business Association (CVBA), Iris has been part of this neighbourhood's fabric for more than 43 years. She has served in a leadership role with CVBA, helping shape the community into what it is today.

Brenda

Brenda's connection to the neighbourhood began in the 1980s, as an employee at Vancouver General Hospital. Over the years, she notes Cambie Village as a welcoming and peaceful place to live, and to enjoy walks through the area.

With many memories to choose from, Brenda reminisces of the independent films shown at The Park Theatre.

Carey

As a resident of Cambie Village for two decades, Carey has seen the community grow and evolve. She especially enjoys the live music performances and the annual Halloween Haunt, which bring energy and creativity to the street.

She recalls fun moments such as taking photos at the Valentine's Day Love Bus and appreciates how much the BIA has done over time. Like many community members, Carey hopes to see even more people come out to support and participate with future events.

Janet and Alexis

"Wherever you see Janet, there you will see Alexis!" Their close friendship was formed in Cambie Village.

Janet has lived in the area for many years and treasures the memories she has created here with family. One standout moment was playing mini-golf with her six-year-old grand-niece, followed by an afternoon of live music at the plaza.

For Alexis, she remembers a recent visit from her sister who flew in from California and had an incredible time in Cambie Village during our popular Wine Tasting Wednesday event!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by Our Village, Our Memories. Here is to another twenty incredible years in Cambie Village, The Heart of Vancouver!
